EXHIBITIONS
ΦΩΤΑ - a large-scale screen printed fabrics art installation that explores the profound relationship between shadow and light. It is an exploration of the duality inherent in our existence - the coexistence of light and darkness, of presence and absence. It invites contemplation on the transient nature of life, where light can emerge from the darkest corners and shadows can bring depth and complexity to our experiences.
The installation is designed to engage multiple senses, inviting to touch and feel the fabric's texture and weight. Due to interaction with the panels reaching 10 meters high in Communitism courtyard in Athens, the interplay of shadow and light shifts, creating an ever-changing visual experience. The fabric panels may also be gently manipulated, allowing you to shape and mold the shadows, further immersing you in the artwork.
All pieces for this immersive exhibition were printed by Greta Haga and Lizzie Urquhart during their printmaking residency in Athens at Kypseli print studio were they met in 2021.
'ΦΩΤΑ' - (fóta) light

The shadow-inspired screen printed fabric large-scale art installation is an immersive experience designed to evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. This unique installation combines the art of screen printing with the concept of shadows to create a dynamic and engaging environment.
The installation features a series of large fabric panels, meticulously screen printed with intricate designs that play with light and shadow. The designs are carefully crafted to create a mesmerising interplay of shapes, patterns, and negative space, casting captivating shadows when illuminated.
The chosen fabric for the installation is carefully selected to allow some light to pass through, enhancing the shadow effect and creating a subtle translucency. This adds depth and dimension to the artwork, as the shadows cast by the fabric panels interact with the surrounding environment.
The installation is strategically placed within the OMBRA festival grounds industrial venue Utopia 126, taking into consideration visibility and foot traffic. It has been suspended from structures, creating a visually striking display that draws festival-goers in. Red spotlights are strategically positioned to cast dynamic shadows and highlights, adding an extra layer of visual interest and creating an ever-changing ambiance.
As festival-goers move through the installation, they are enveloped in a world of shadows and light, experiencing a unique and immersive journey.
